You know what else was the best? The rainforests. Too bad the fascist oligarchies are raping them to make hamburgers. Look it up.

Believe me.Shirley: Can I just ask as a divorced, black housewife, what part of being a single, white slacker makes you people so jaded?Britta: Ooh! You people? What do you mean ‘you people’? [grins] I cannot believe I got to say that.Shirley: … It’s the little things isn’t it.

Britta: What are you doing? Are you trying to shoot yourself?
Shirley: I want to go home.
Britta: You’re a soldier, woman! Are you out of your mind?
Shirley: I’m the only one in my mind. We’re going to lose this war and this school, and even if we don’t…
Britta: Even if we don’t what? You’re just going to walk away? All those business classes, all that talk about starting a brownie company. You’re just going to slip right into Andre’s kitchen? You’re going to walk away from everything?
Shirley: I can’t do everything, Britta. And who are you to talk? You can’t do anything! You keep switching and dropping classes. You have no major. You slept with half the campus. You name one thing you committed to since you came here.
Britta: I quit smoking, and I became friends with you! Neither of which are easy because smoking is great and you are a mean scaredy cat house wife who’s afraid to live her own life!

Has anybody else noticed how DARK Community is?

stickingupforsammy:

When it comes to their character backstories? I feel like nobody ever brings this up…I’ve been watching the show and i’ve really noticed that I feel horrible for these characters. All of them. But it’s such a cute, happy, warm show, that I feel like when the characters mention their issues, it sort of goes over the viewer’s heads.

Jeff was abused, neglected, and abandoned by his drunk con man father, and then smothered by his overbearing mother after the divorce, and developed body image and serious self esteem issues when he was just a little boy.

Annie’s parents basically abandoned her after her pill addiction. Her mom was constantly forcing her to be the best and putting her down and generally seemed verbally abusive. They cut her off financially for getting help and basically left her on her own.

We know that Britta’s dad was controlling to the point of leaving her with some pretty triggering scars.

Pierce’s dad put him down and treated him like he had absolutely no value at all, his step children either ignore him or manipulate him (Amber) and he could never hold down a marriage.

Abed’s mother and father fought all of the time and divorced..leaving Abed with a hard assed dad. His mom moved onto a new family and seems like she sort of forgot about him.

Shirley was cheated on after a strained marriage and forced to raise her two children while her ex husband ran off with a stripper and used her giving nature to continue to take things from her.

Troys is fine, lol.
